OUR STORY

The Lielbata spring begins its journey in the west and moves to the east, it flows towards the sun, bringing energy and a new day, therefore the spring has been considered magical, healing and even sacred for a long time.
The history of the Lielbata spring is as old and as strong as the land from the depths of which it flows.
The Eternal Stream of Life in Latvia
In the heart of Latvia, nestled in the serene landscapes of Vaiņode, Lielbātas Spring has captivated visitors for centuries. First documented in 1253 in a treaty dividing Courland, as the largest and most revered freshwater spring in Latvia, it holds a special place in the Baltics and Nordic regions. This natural treasure’s crystal-clear water, filtered through layers of sand, limestone, and mineral-rich rock, offers unparalleled purity. Lielbātas Spring is more than just a source of water—it’s a marvel known for its healing powers, and life-giving force.
A Legacy of Health and Nobility
Lielbātas Spring gained prominence in 1822 when the von der Osten-Sacken family built Lielbātas Manor nearby. Drawn to the purity and health-boosting qualities of the water, the baron and his family made it a daily ritual to drink and bathe in the spring. Tales of the baroness’s enduring beauty and the baron’s vitality spread far and wide, attributing their wellness to the healing properties of the spring.
A Gift to the Latvian People
In 1923, the von der Osten-Sacken family gifted Lielbātas Manor to the Latvian state. It became a recreational center known as “Saulkalne,” where visitors could enjoy the spring’s restorative power. The legacy of healing continued, blending legend with reality, drawing people to experience the water’s rejuvenating effects for themselves.
Bringing Baata Spring Water to the World
In 2000, Lielbātas Manor entered private ownership, and by 2012, the bottling of Baata Spring water began, making it accessible across Latvia and beyond. Flowing at an impressive rate of 40 liters per second, the water maintains its natural purity, free from chemicals and artificial processes, offering the world a taste of nature’s vitality.
A Natural Wonder for All Generations
